The Membership Committee serves as the front door to SteerFW. This team focuses on recruitment, engagement, retention, and cultivating meaningful connections among members. From onboarding new members to strengthening relationships across committees and programs, Membership ensures SteerFW remains accessible, welcoming, and representative of Fort Worth’s next generation of leaders.
Our Team.
Bryan Upchurch joined SteerFW in 2024, graduated from the Keyholders Program that same year, and joined the Board in 2025 serving on the Membership Committee. He moved to Fort Worth in 2012 for school and quickly fell in love with the city. Bryan is deeply involved in education advocacy, serving on multiple PTAs and with the Fort Worth Council of PTAs. He and his wife are raising their three children in Fort Worth. A long-standing family tradition includes Monday nights at the same Chick-fil-A for over 13 years.

Mel Fernandez is a Fort Worth native whose family roots trace back to the original Drovers during the historic cattle drive era. She joined SteerFW in 2025, graduated from the Keyholders Class of 2025, and is serving her first year on the Board with the Membership Committee. Born and raised in Fort Worth, Mel brings a strong sense of legacy and pride to her involvement in shaping the city’s future.
